Joint Solo Exhibitionme, myself and I - Anne Kempton of Timeless Textiles Fibre Art Gallery in Newcastle NSW extended an invitation to myself and my two talented daughters after seeing our work exhibited at the Palm House in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney as part of ATASDA's biennial exhibition in 2016. Our initial challenge was to find a theme/title that we could all work towards. We each have our own style, materials and techniques that we prefer to use and as family members the idea of exploring 'identity' was very appealing.
The works I have included are encaustic mixed media and all include traditional textile techniques, including knit, crochet and woven wire, and stitched elements on teabags, printed and collaged papers and other ephemera. I have also incorporated shibori dyed silk in the larger panels. The exhibition is open from 18 January to 12 February 2017. A link to the exhibition and works for sale is available on the timeless textiles website (link below). I feel really privileged to have the opportunity to exhibit with my daughters in such a well respected gallery. If you are in the area, make sure you pop in and have a look or visit the website. All artworks are for sale. |
